ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

1953 Bowman Black & White Baseball

1953 Bowman Black & White Baseball

  • Bowman also produced a 64-card set done entirely in black-and-white photography in 1953.
  • No explanation is available for the two different and very contrasting sets. It is believed that the 1953 Bowman Black & White cards were originally intended to be a third color series, but Bowman instead decided to reduce costs by printing the cards without color and numbering them #1-64. Supporting that theory, the overall card design is virtually identical except for the lack of color.
  • Key Rookie Cards: Gil McDougald, Minnie Minoso, Lew Burdette.
